Dementia Network Events and Activities
North Simcoe Muskoka Dementia Network Forum
We host two forums a year in the spring and fall. The spring forum is usually in April and we use videoconferencing from multiple sites to reduce travel costs and time. The fall forum is in October and is a face to face meeting. We use these forums to inform those interested in dementia care about services and care planning in this LHIN and beyond. Our current focus is advocacy. For forum dates and information call the Alzheimer Society at 705 722-1066 or 705 329-0909
Education Committee
The Education Committee is a Standing Committee of the North Simcoe Muskoka Dementia Network. This committee is researching PSW dementia care education. This committee is also promoting and monitoring the use of the Me & U-First e-learning modules. They are initiating discussion and collaboration between the two area dementia education day planning committees. For information on the past achievements of this committee, go to the About Us Section of this web site and scroll down to Education Committee.

Hello friends of MAREP,
We are pleased to announce the launch of "Creating Partnerships in Dementia Care: A Changing Melody Toolkit".
Over the past 5-years MAREP has systematically evaluated the outcomes and processes of the A Changing Melody forum, a learning and sharing forum for persons with early-stage dementia. As a result we have compiled the information into a practical 177-page resource guide to help plan and implement forums specifically designed by and for persons with early-stage dementia and their family partners in care, similar to the A Changing Melody forum hosted by MAREP and partners.
In addition, we have created a special webpage to support those interested in hosting their own event. Here you will find resources and a link to an e-forum where you can share your ideas with others, ask questions and get answers. This e-forum is hosted by MAREP and the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
If you are interested in ordering a copy of the toolkit or would like to access any of the online resources, please visit the MAREP website at www.marep.uwaterloo.ca/products/ACMToolkit.html. You will also find a downloadable order form and a secure online order form.
